oko probes run
Reads every declared probe once and, with --write, notes each new occurrence on its class defect.
Invocation#
oko probes run [--write] [--json]Inputs and options#
- Without --write the pass says, per probe, how many rows its source answered, how many are occurrences, which are new and what it would do, and keeps nothing.
- Each source is read once per pass however many probes declare it. sessions is the agent inventory (`oko sessions agents`) with, under probe, everRead, lastReadAt and unreadSeconds from the supervisor's standing readings (`oko sessions oversight`; since the role was recorded when it never read), childTurnSeconds (the longest turn those readings measured), openWork (owed tasks of the newest control pass plus unrepaired defects the session owns) and supervisedOpen (for a session whose role is supervisor, every open defect of the register, the open work its continuation counts; null for any other). processes is one ps listing matched by program name against the declared directories, a name in two of them taken from the first. commits reads every session's transcript on this machine, ended sessions included, from where the last written pass stopped. The first pass ever keeps when the probes were adopted and starts every transcript at its end; a transcript a later pass sees for the first time (a session started since, or a session's new newest file) is read whole and keeps the refusals made after the adoption. Where it stopped moves on only when every probe reading it noted what it found, so commits whose noting was refused are read again by the next pass, and a transcript that cannot be read refuses the reading without moving any. indexes lists each named index with git ls-files --stage and asks its objects of the store with one git cat-file --batch-check; an entry whose working path is a directory is a submodule commit and is not asked.
Output and state effect#
- An occurrence is identified by its key fields; one a written pass already noted is not noted again. The new occurrences of one pass are one note on the open class defect of the probe's product and shape; when none stands, the first occurrences record it as a class defect (found in probe:NAME) with them as its evidence and, as its completion probe, `oko probes remaining --name NAME --after {revision}` run by the oko installed on the machine, so the class closes only while the probe finds nothing after the repair. Nothing waits on a model.
- What was noted, when the commit source was adopted and where it stopped are kept in OKO_PROBES, else probes.json in Oko's directory. Prints, per probe, rows, occurrences, new, class and action, or the cause its reading failed (unreadable) or its writing was refused (refused).
Refusals and safe exits#
- A reading that fails names its cause on every probe that reads it, and the other probes still run; it is never answered as nothing found. An occurrence missing a key or evidence field refuses that probe naming the field and the row. An unreadable state file, defect register or note write refuses with its path and cause.
