oko defects split

Takes an observation a defect kept as the same failure out again as the different failure it is, without losing what was seen.

Invocation#

Command
oko defects split <id> --observation N --because TEXT --repair TEXT --criterion RESULT (--blocks "PROGRAM WORDS" ... | --root ROOT | --blocks-nothing REASON) [--class --probe-…] [--json]

Inputs and options#

  • The defect id, the observation's number as `oko defects show` lists it (`seen <n>: …`, counted from one), how it differs, and the repair, criterion and sorting a record states.

Output and state effect#

  • Records the observation's own title, surface, evidence, impact and found-in with the stated repair, distinct from the defect it was kept on: it opens a defect of its own, or is kept on another open defect it does repeat. The observation stays on the first defect marked `taken out into <short>`, and both defects carry a note naming the other and the reason. Prints `observation <n> of <short> opened|kept on|already held by <short>: <title>`; with --json `{split, observation, into, outcome, said}`.
  • What the observation's record bound on the defect it was kept on (the --blocks paths that defect did not bind before, kept on the observation as `bound`) goes with it: it is taken off the first defect, noted there, before the split records the observation, so the split's own --blocks is not refused as already broken, and bound on the defect the observation goes to with the observation's evidence as its cause. A split refused while recording binds it back where it was; a binding that cannot be made on the new defect is refused naming the `oko defects operations bind` that finishes it.
  • Oko Desktop → Defects lists each kept observation as `Seen again <n>` under its defect, with **Split** opening the same operation; the native defects split action takes the same fields.

Refusals and safe exits#

  • `oko defects split --observation takes the number oko defects show lists an observation under, counted from one; got <n>: <cause>` (exit 2) for zero, a negative or a non-number.
  • `defect <short> keeps <k> observation(s); there is no observation <n> to split`; `observation <n> of defect <short> was already taken out into <short>`.
  • Every refusal of `oko defects record` for the record it writes (a missing repair, criterion or sorting, a ruling that forbids its needs), with nothing written, the observation left unmarked and what it bound bound again on the first defect.
